Eddy De Herdt was born in 1946 in Belgium. After graduation from the University of Antwerp (Economics) De Herdt started his career in sales for medical diagnostics. From there he moved to Janssen Phamaceutica, a pharmaceutical research based company, where he establishing businesses in the Far East and sold licenses generating royalty-revenue of over 25 million euro a year.
In 1982 De Herdt was hired by Massive Lighting where he became General Manager Export Division and taught the company to think globally. He set up an export division, hired and trained area managers and set the basis for the international expansion of the company.
In 1986 De Herdt went to Sylvania Lighting International where he, as the Managing Director North Europe, generated double-digit growth and made numerous successful acquisitions.
In 2001 De Herdt became Managing Director of Wavin Belgium, market leader in plastic pipes for the building industry. De Herdt created a strong unified new company with a common identity out of a number of acquired wholesalers.
De Herdt serves the LUXeXceL Group as an advisor of the Board.
