Designing your CAD file for 3D printing is different than a design for a moulded part. If your product design matches with these design guidelines we are able to produce your product with Printoptical © Technology.

General shape guidelines

Overhangs / undercuts / hollowsReview article

Your design will need to be free of overhangs or undercuts to be printable.

Please review our overhang and hollow requirements article for more
information on design requirements and possibilities.

Vertical wallsReview article

In general vertical walls should be avoided in your design.
They cannot be printed with the same quality as sloped features so
a slope/draft angle of at least 3 degrees is preferable. This is especially true
for small shaped features. They become less well defined when using print
settings optimized for vertical walls.

FilletsReview article

Sharp edged features have a fillet (radius) on peaks and valleys of
80mu or larger. This is dependent upon the shape and print settings.
Fillets will have a larger effect on narrow spaced (small pitch)
and/or steep features than on wider spaced (pitched) and/or flat features.
The smaller the features the greater the impact.

"Double sided" 3D printingReview article

If your design can be split in two parts that both meet our
standard requirements we can print one part on top of the other.
This way we could overcome some difficulties with regards to overhangs.
